Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Christmas is a celebration of God’s greatest gift to humanity. Isaiah declared, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…” This prophetic announcement finds its fulfillment in the birth of Jesus Christ—God stepping into human history with love, light, and salvation.
The Child born speaks of His humanity. Jesus entered our world as one of us—fragile, touchable, and fully acquainted with our struggles. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). He understands our weaknesses because He walked where we walk (Hebrews 4:15).
The Son given speaks of His divinity. He was not created—He was sent. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” (John 3:16). Jesus is the eternal Son who came to reveal the Father’s heart and bring salvation to all who believe.Isaiah calls Him Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The New Testament echoes these truths:
- Jesus is Wonderful
“They were all amazed and glorified God, saying, ‘We never saw anything like this!’” (Mark 2:12) - Jesus is our Counselor
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things” (John 14:26).
Christ sends the Spirit to guide our steps and comfort our hearts. - Jesus is Mighty God
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18).
He conquers darkness, delivers the bound, and changes lives. - Jesus is Everlasting Father
He embodies the Father’s heart, saying, “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18).
In Him we find belonging, identity, and love. - Jesus is the Prince of Peace
“My peace I give to you… not as the world gives” (John 14:27).
His peace silences fear and steadies our hearts in troubled times.
Jesus’ birth also marks the dawning of a new kingdom:
“Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end” (Isaiah 9:7).
The New Testament affirms this truth:
“His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom” (2 Peter 1:11).
This Christmas, may the truth of His coming fill your heart with hope.
May His peace rule in your home (Colossians 3:15).
May His love abound in your family (1 John 4:9–10).
And may you experience the joy of knowing that the Savior who was born unto us now lives within us (Galatians 2:20).
Merry Christmas!
From our church family to yours—may the presence of Jesus fill your life this season and always.
