Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”
So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.
And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.” (Mat. 28:1-10)
The first words Jesus spoke after His resurrection was, “Rejoice!” Around this time (Easter) everybody remembers the Cross, but we need to remember the Empty Tomb. The empty tomb is a symbol of victory over death and the grave! It’s a symbol of the power of resurrection that was manifested by the Holy Spirit.
Romans 4:25 says, “who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” The Cross is a symbol of sin and death, but the empty tomb is a symbol of righteousness, resurrection and life. Romans 8:2 says. “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”
And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! (1Co. 15:17)
Rom 10:9 says to confess Jesus as Lord and believe that God has raised Him from the death to be saved. Resurrection is VICTORY over death and sin.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1Pe. 1:3)
And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places. (Eph 1:19-20)
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and life.” Resurrection power is available for us and in us! “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” (Roman 8:11)
